Project One
This 500 sq. ft. kitchen remodel began with the demolition of existing cabinets and removal of appliances. Next steps included installation of all-plywood construction cabinets with 5-layer crown moulding detail, featuring a light distress and dark glaze in all transitions to match the rustic look of the existing flagstone floor. Cabinets were equipped with glass shelves and lighting controlled by dimmer switch, as well as above and under cabinet lighting. 2 1/4" granite countertops were complimented by a decorative travertine backsplash. Sink amenities include faucet, soap dispenser, hand sprayer, air gap and switch, filtered hot and cold water tap.
The 50sq ft. island houses an additional undercounter oven as well as built-in ice maker, which required routing of water and electrical to the area. The recessed ceiling detail above the existing dining area was removed and shifted to the area directly above the island, mirroring the shape of the island countertop.
The project concluded with the installation of appliances, including the 48" stainless steel range boasting a 5-burner gas stove and double oven, as well as a pot filler and built-in hood. The existing forced-air heater, as well as the closet that housed it, was removed to accommodate two 36" side-by-side GE Monogram built-in refrigerator and freezer units.
